Milk Powder Burfi Recipe (Milk Barfi) | Doodh Mithai Recipe

Milk powder barfi also known as milk burfi is such an easy desert made with just 4 ingredients. It hardly takes 10 mins to make from start to finish unlike my milk cake which takes hours to make. Equipment

  • Blender
  • Cooking pot
  • Square Tray to Set Barfi

Ingredients

  • cup Milk powder | Dry Milk Powder
  • cup Ghee
  • ¼ cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Powdered Sugar Normal sugar powdered in a blender
  • a pinch Saffron strands optional
  • 1 tbsp Nuts sliced optional

Instructions

  • Heat ghee in a nonstick pan, add milk powder, milk and give a mix. Saute this for 30 seconds to 1 min till it is well combined.
  • Add in powdered sugar and mix well. In 1 minute the ghee will start to leave the sides of the pan. It won't take more than 1 mins. Immediately pour it in a grease pan and top with saffron and nuts.
  • Leave to cool for and set for 2 hours. Slice and enjoy.

Notes

  • It is best to use a nonstick pan for this barfi which makes easy cooking. 
  • Cook barfi on medium heat and don’t over cook the barfi. Overcooking may result in chewy barfi. 
  • You can flavour this milk powder barfi with any flavourings. 
  • You have to powder sugar before adding into the pan. You can use confectioners sugar or icing sugar instead of regular sugar. 
  • Don't add too much sugar, since milk powder has some sugar in them, you need very little sugar. I used ¼ cup of sugar, you can increase it till ⅓ cup. 
  • You can decorate the burfi with silver foil paper or chopped nuts. 

Serving and storage

Milk powder barfi has to be stored in fridge since it contains milk. But it can be kept at room temperature for one to 2 days.
