Equipment

  • Microwave or cooking pot
  • Blender

Ingredients

For Apple Sauce

  • 4 large Apples
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • ½ cup Water

For Making Juice (1 serving)

  • ¼ cup Apple Sauce
  • 1 cup Cold Water
  • Icecubes as needed

Instructions

  • Wash apples well. Peel them, deseed them, chop them.Take them in a microwave safe bowl. Instead of cooking in a microwave, you can cook apples, sugar and water in a sauce pan.
  • Now add sugar and water in it. Cover with the lid. Put this in microwave and cook on high power for 10 mins. If you are cooking this in a regular pot, cover and cook for 10 to 15 minutes until apples are tender.
  • Remove from microwave and mash them little. Transfer this to a blender and make into a smooth puree. Pour this into a dry airtight container and store in fridge.
  • To make juice, take a glass and add few ice cubes in them. Now add small amount (around ¼ cup )of apple sauce and pour 1 cup of cold water. Mix well. Enjoy cold.

Notes

  • For a balanced flavor, use a combination of apple varieties.
  • Cooking apples on low heat keeps more of their nutrients intact and prevents
    them from becoming bitter.
  • If you want your juice to be transparent, strain it several times to get a smoother
    consistency.
  • Serve cold for a summertime refresher or warm for a wintertime warmer.

Serving & Storage

You can store the apple sauce upto 3 days in fridge. If you need to store for longer time, freeze them in ice cube trays and once frozen collect all the cubes inside a ziploc bag and store in freezer.
