Potato Poriyal Recipe
This is one dish which i make at least once a week. Actually I would say at least twice a week. Because hubby loves it, i love it and every one in the family loves it. This taste great with rice, rasam, sambar rice, curd rice or anything you name it.
Ingredients for Potato poriyal
- Potatoes - 4 large peeled and cubed
- Oil - 3 tblspn
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - a pinch
- Curry leaves a handful
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
- Chilli Powder - 1 tblspn or to taste
- Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp (Optional)
- Water a splash

How to Make Potato poriyal
- Chop up peeled potatoes, wash them in water and drain them.
- Heat oil in a pan, add in mustard, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves and let them sizzle.
- Now add in potatoes and toss well. Sprinkle in salt and turmeric and mix well.
- Simmer the flame to a low and cover with a lid, cook it for 5 mins or so.
- Now open the lid and add a splash of water if it is sticking. Cover and cook for 8 to 10 mins.
- Now open the lid, increase the heat and add in chilli powder, garam masala powder and fry it in oil. till it gets nice colour.
- Serve with rice.

Ingredients
- 4 large Potatoes peeled and cubed
