Oats Kuzhi Paniyaram
I love making kuli paniyaram, specially because of their cute shapes. These bite size morsels are such an indulgence for breakfast. There is nothing more than making this during morning and having with coconut chutney.
This is the new paniyaram maker which i bought online for around 500 Rs. It is such a dream one, it is nonstick and i love it, because when i experiment with so many version of this paniyaram i don't have to worry about things getting stuck to the pan.
These paniyaram are made with oats and this is a instant version. It can be made any time as you wish. You can add whatever veggies you wish, i added some grated carrot which i love in this. This turned out to be so soft and fluffy and i loved it. Try it and you will know why i loved it..

About Oats Kuzhi Paniyaram Recipe
The Kuzhi paniyaram is a South Indian dish made by steaming batter traditionally made from pulses (specifically black lentils) and rice using a mould. The batter used is the same as that for idli and dosa.
Kuzhi paniyarams can be made sweet or spicy. It is also known as kuzhi paniyaram, paniyaram, paddu, guliyappa, yeriyappa, gundponglu, gunta ponganalu, or appadadde, appe in Tulu. The batter is made of black lentils and rice and is similar in composition to idli and dosa batter.
Oats, scientifically known as Avena sativa, is a cereal grain that belongs to the Poaceae grass family. The grain specifically refers to the edible seeds of oat grass, which end up in our breakfast bowls.
Ingredients for Oats Kuzhi Paniyaram
- Instant Oats - 3 cups
- Rice Flour - 1 ½ cups
- Curd- 1 cup
- Water as needed
- Salt to taste
- Eno Fruit Salt - 2 tbsp (or use 1 tsp of baking soda)
- Oil for Frying paniyaram
For Seasoning:
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
- Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
- Urad dal / Ulundu - 1 tsp
- Shallots / Sambar Onion - 10 chopped finely
- Curry leaves - 10 chopped finely
- Green Chilli - 2 chopped finely
- Carrots - 1 cup grated
- Coriander leaves / Cilantro - 3 tbsp finely chopped
Instant Oats :
Instant oatmeal provides a hearty and quick-cooking breakfast option for you, which can be a lifesaver on busy mornings. Fortunately, instant oatmeal has the same nutritional value as traditional oatmeal, such as rolled and steel-cut oats, which take
much longer to cook.
Rice Flour / Arisi Mavu:
Rice flour is a type of flour that is made from finely ground rice. It differs from rice starch, which is typically made by steeping rice in lye. Rice flour is a popular wheat flour substitute.
How to make Oats Kuzhi Paniyaram Recipe
- Take oats, rice flour, curd and water in a mixing bowl and make a smooth batter.
- Now make the seasoning by heating oil, and crackling mustard, cumin and urad dal and let it sizzle for a min.
- Add in onions, curry leaves, green chilli and saute for a min.
- Add in carrots and coriander leaves and mix well for 30 sec.
- Now pour this over the oats mixture and mix well.
- Add in salt and eno salt and mix well till they foam up.
- Heat paniyaram pan, drizzle oil in it and let it heat up.
- Pour spoonful of batter in the paniyaram pan and cook till the bottom crisp up.
- Flip over and cook.
- Serve with chutney.

Ingredients

@AnonymousBaking soda is what makes it soft. You can leave baking soda and add eno fruit salt.

Baking soda in cooking is far better than using eno salt. Half a tsp of baking soda yields super soft paniyarams.
