Eggless Raisin Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- Raisin - 1 cup
- Sugar - ¾ cup or 1 cup
- Water - 1 ¼ cup
- Butter - ⅔ cup
- Cinnamon Powder - 1 tsp
- All Purpose Flour / Maida - 2 cup
- Baking Powder - 1 tsp
- Baking Soda / Cooking Soda - 1 tsp
- Salt a pinch
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 160 degree C.
- Take raisin, water, sugar, butter and cinnamon in a sauce pan. Bring it to a boil. Simmer for 5 mins.Set aside to cool.
- Take flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and mix well.
- Add in cooled raisin mix.
- Fold gently.
- Spoon it into baking pan. Bake for 55 mins to 1 hour.
- Remove and cool completely.
- Slice and serve.

My grandmother always made this cake - she called it a Dorcas Cake. My dad asked if I could make it but leave out the raisins After boiling them I put them in blender. He said best cake ever without the raisins. I’m so thankful to find this depression era cake recipe again.
